LACQUER
Brass2Black could be described as the perfect blend between brass and black lacquer.
Many of us have been captivated by the iconic black lacquered Leica, revealing large sections of brass gracefully worn by time and use.
For many, the allure of a black lacquered body lies largely in the subtle - or striking - charm of aged brass...
What makes Brass2Black’s work unique:
“Ceramic” paints, originally designed for firearms, are becoming increasingly popular online. They only allow for one coat to be applied, with no possibility of overlaying or sanding.
Naturally, this manual process is considerably slower, more detailed, and much less profitable than using a single-layer “ceramic firearm paint.”
This technique also enables the creation of subtle, realistic patina that closely resemble those of the rugged, original “Black Paint” Leica.

The uniqueness of Brass2Black lies in its micro-bodywork technique that requires a great deal of preparation, layers of filler and intermediate sanding between coats. This approach results in a controlled and precise finish, which our customers describe as both pleasing to use and faithful to the style of original lacquers.
